Early on Monday, Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb highlighted Brighton & Hove Albion’s pursuit of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.
It was claimed that the talks for the transfer are underway, with Roberto De Zerbi insisting on his arrival at the Seagulls following a failed attempt in the January transfer window.
Now the very same TuttoMercatoWeb is back with some quotes from Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali, who talked to the Italian media about Frattesi’s future.
Speaking to Rai Gr Parlamento, the director was very open about the club’s intention with the player, claiming they’ve already set a price to sell him in England.
“Our intention was to keep him. We haven’t spoken to Juventus. €40m? It’s a request we made in the Premier League because we sold Scamacca for the same amount,” said Carnevali.
When first reporting Brighton’s contacts for Frattesi, TuttoMercatoWeb hadn’t mentioned a price for the player, so this is an interesting day for those who want to see him at the Seagulls.
The midfielder has a contract with Sassuolo until 2026, and that definitely puts the Serie A side in a comfortable position in case clubs start bidding for him this summer.
That’s why despite his Transfermarkt valuation of €22m, they’re ready to make a bigger request to the likes of Brighton and co.
