Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that defender Malo Gusto will be remaining at the club, despite interest from Chelsea.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the full-back over the last week as they continue spending to bolster their squad this month.
They have targeted the 19-year-old right-back as a replacement for Reece James, who is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a set back in his return from injury.
A report today stated that they had made an improved bid for Gusto and the player ‘dreams’ of securing a move to Stamford Bridge this month.
it seems, though, that Lyon have no intention of letting him go, with Aulas commenting on the situation today in a message posted on social media.
“I would like to make it clear that Malo Gusto, a great hope of the OL, will continue to play for the OL until at least 30 June 2023,” RMC Sport report him saying.
The outlet report that Chelsea’s first approach for the youngster ‘was not conclusive’ and could soon be ‘re-evaluated upwards’ to help with that issue.
The Blues have also agreed to a five-year deal with Gusto but Lyon are ‘not willing to let him go’ at this point in time.
That has now been confirmed by Aulas, who it seems has no intention of selling, at least if he can’t have the player return on loan.
