Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has admitted he ‘would love’ to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria for the club.
Zakaria joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in the summer, signing on a season-long deal late in the window as the Blues looked for a replacement for N’Golo Kante.
He’s endured a slow start to life at Stamford Bridge, making just one appearance in all competitions so far, a 71-minute display against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League this week in which he also scored.
The loan spell has been something of a disaster so far, though, with several reports making it clear he could be sent back to Juventus in January.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, particularly with Graham Potter now having given him his chance at Chelsea and the player impressing in that win over Zagreb.
If he is to move, though, it seems his former club would be more than happy to take him back for a second spell.
“Of course, we would like to have Zakaria back here,” Fussball Transfers quote Virkus as saying.
“A player like that, who can fix a lot of situations with his pace, would always help.”
