Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has suggested midfielder Quinten Timber is good enough to play for Arsenal, with a transfer possibly on the cards this summer.
The Feyenoord boss recently appeared on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo show, relayed by Voetbal Zone, to discuss his club and his current squad.
One of the star men in the current group is Quinten Timber, who has been impressing this season playing in a central midfield role.
He currently has seven goals and seven assists in 37 games in all competitions, with six of each coming in 25 games in the Eredivisie.
That’s already a considerable step up from his performances last season, when he only had three goals and three assists in 31 games, although he was predominantly playing as a defensive midfielder.
Numbers such as those have naturally earned him a lot of attention, with the 22-year-old seemingly ready to make the next step and Premier League sides likely to be keeping an eye on his development.
No clubs are yet to make their move for him, but Slot believes that will change at some point, even suggesting Timber is good enough to play for Arsenal, where his brother Jurrien Timber moved last summer.
“If he continues to develop as he has in the past year, his ceiling is extremely high,” he said.
“Because he has made great development in the past year. I think he is a very special player because he has the strength and speed in midfield to create a surplus. And I also think he has a very good mentality and is a very good boy.
“I think they (the Timber brothers) are both very good. That one is already at Arsenal, and I don’t think it is ruled out that Quinten should also be able to go to a club of that calibre.”
