FC Basel are unsure what they will do if Crystal Palace make a firm move for striker Thierno Barry in the summer transfer window.
That’s at least according to Sport.ch, who cover the player today and the big decision the Swiss side will have to make should Crystal Palace show firm interest.
A report in England recently linked Crystal Palace with a move for the 21-year-old, who has seven goals and four assists in 28 games in the Super League this season and ten and four in 30 in all competitions.
They explain how the youngster has gone from ‘bogeyman to baller’ this season for Basel, having initially struggled at the beginning of the season.
For a long time, he had been considered a mistake but that is no longer the case, and his performances are attracting interest from the Premier League, and reportedly, Crystal Palace in particular.
The big question for Basel is what they do if the Eagles turn that apparent interest into something concrete.
The club are currently in a ‘deep crisis’ and while relegation is unlikely, they need to reinvent themselves and improve drastically on the pitch. Barry has show he has the quality to lead such a reinvention and that he is someone the club should build around.
On the flip side, the club don’t have many ‘rough diamonds’ that they can sell off to help balance the books and raise funds to reinvent the squad.
Barry is the standout candidate and if Crystal Palace come calling, they would find it hard to resist that Premier League money.
They have a big decision to make when it comes to the striker, whose performances have seemingly not gone unnoticed and could lead to a tough choice for Basel in the summer.
