Barcelona have approved the sale of Ansu Fati to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Jorge Mendes is working to convince the player on the move.

That’s according to Sport, who say Wolves’ proposal of €30m plus Rúben Neves has been welcomed by those in charge at the Camp Nou.

The newspaper explains that Barcelona’s sporting directors are working overtime to achieve a big sale before June 30th to help balance the books and comply with Financial Fair Play.

At the moment all of their efforts are focused on Fati and Wolves’ recent proposal of €30m plus Rúben Neves is ‘highly regarded’ by the club.

They are waiting for Fati to make a decision as he is ‘very reluctant’ to leave the club at this moment in time, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, is working to change that.

He is ‘clear’ that Fati needs to leave the club because of a lack of prominence and has tried to shake up the market in recent months to find possible destinations for him.

His aim was for Fati to end up at a big club and he sent polls to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal but they did not bear fruit.

Faced with this reality he has decided to turn his strategy around and make an offer to Wolves, a club that he ‘controls perfectly’.

Thus, the idea of including Rúben Neves in the deal came about in an attempt to make it an attractive option for Barcelona on an accounting level as they would get €30m for the player and a €40m player on the books in the Portugal international.

Barcelona consider the offer ‘reasonable’, and Mendes is now trying to convince Fati and his environment that Wolves is a ‘good option’ for him.

He’s made it clear Molineux would be an intermediate destination for him to land in the Premier League as an undisputed starter and recover his level for one or two years before making the move to a big club in future.

At the moment Fati isn’t keen and wants to speak to Barcelona manager Xavi about the situation before making a decision. Any indication from the Spaniard that he is not in his plans would then open up the possibility of a transfer.
