Manchester City defender Yan Couto already has an agreement in place with Borussia Dortmund, but they’re not going to match City’s demands for him.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say that the ‘agreement in principle’ with Dortmund doesn’t mean the Manchester City man will be making the move to Germany.
Sky report that Borussia Dortmund could have found the full-back they’re looking for in Couto, who has returned to Manchester City from a loan spell at Girona but is not a part of their plans moving forwards.
According to their information Dortmund have already reached an agreement in principle with the Brazilian but there is still a catch, and that is City’s asking price.
While Couto wants the move, the Premier League champions demands are currently too high. While Dortmund would be willing to pay €20-25m, Manchester City are asking for more. It’s not stated exactly what they want but it is above that price point.
That’s disappointing for the German club as their bosses Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl have ‘high hopes’ for the player, who fits perfectly into their plans to target younger players again.
They want a right-back who can offer something offensively and offer a different profile to Julian Ryerson and believe he is the man, but Manchester City’s demands are stopping a deal happening, even if the player is keen and there’s an agreement in place on that front.
