Real Sociedad have been ‘able to confirm’ that Liverpool are willing to propose €60m for Martín Zubimendi.
That’s according to El Diario Vasco, who state the midfielder has to make a final decision on his future.
The 24-year-old is one of the main targets for new Liverpool manager Arne Slot this summer.
His representatives also manage Andoni Iraola and it was Reds director Richard Hughes who signed the manager for Bournemouth. Hughes is therefore thought to have a good relationship with the agents.
The Spain international hasn’t considered important offers from Barcelona and Bayern Munich in recent years, but the report says the Reds’ approach has made him hesitate.
Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil and sporting director Roberto Olabe met with the Euro 2024 winner, to make him aware of his importance at the club. They believe he can further improve his game, and Liverpool won’t be the last big club to come in for him.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has met with his agent to discuss an improved deal, in order to convince him to fend off Liverpool.
Zubimendi is currently in Germany for today’s friendly against Unión Berlin. The report says he will make a final decision on his future before this weekend is over.
El Diario Vasco’s title says ‘confidence in the continuity of Martín Zubimendi’, but that’s not been concretely backed up within the report.
