While most of the Spanish media have been following the Jules Kounde saga mostly from Sevilla’s point of view, always pointing Chelsea out as the main suitors for the transfer, the Catalan media continue to give different coverage to it.
Today, we’ve seen the big twist regarding the defender’s trip to Portugal. It was first said he was left out of the squad which would travel to this leg of pre-season, and later on it was revealed that the player himself asked to join his teammates and go.
When Mucho Deporte broke the news, they pointed out that this turnaround didn’t change the situation with Chelsea, as the Blues remain close to a deal with Sevilla for the transfer, despite Barcelona’s interest.
Now as Gerard Romero covers the news on Jijantes, he takes the point of view fof the Catalan side. He claims it was the Camp Nou club who convinced the player to travel to London.
According to his report, today was supposed to be the day Kounde would travel to London to sort out the final details of the move to Chelsea.
But since he wants to join Barcelona, who are still finding a way to make the operation possible, he travelled to Portugal to buy time for them to make their offer.
Sport writes that Sevilla and Chelsea don’t want to wait much longer, and that’s why Kounde should decide whether to sign for the Blues in the coming hours. He hasn’t told Barça about his decision to move to England yet, and that’s what gives the Camp Nou side some hope.
