Newcastle United have made a bid for Djurgården IF youngster Lucas Bergvall, with Inter Milan, Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt also in the mix.
That’s according to Expressen, relayed by Fotboll Transfers, who say the race could be heating up for the highly rated 17-year-old’s signature.
They explain that Djurgården sporting director Bosse Andersson has previously confirmed he’s held talks with Barcelona about the midfielder, with that reportedly translating into a 73 million kroner offer (£5.5m).
Eintracht Frankfurt topped that by offered 95 million kroner (£7.2m) but Expressen add that Inter Milan and Newcastle have also placed bids on the table.
They don’t explain how much Newcastle, or the Champions League finalists have offered but those two, plus Frankfurt and Barcelona, have ‘made a bid’ for the player and ‘made contract offers’ too.
Indeed, Newcastle’s move seems to be the latest, with them entering the ‘tug of war’ for the youngster seen as the latest development in the battle for him.
At the moment it is them versus Inter, Frankfurt and Barcelona but more clubs could challenge for the youngster and make bids in the coming weeks.
Whether Djurgården decide to sell remains to be seen, with the youngster out of contract in 2025 and no extension signed as yet.
