Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper José Sá has emerged as a surprise target for Aston Villa.
That’s at least what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting today and add the 30-year-old Portuguese could be an option for the Villans to replace Emiliano Martínez.
It’s claimed the World Cup winner ‘can say goodbye’ to Aston Villa after this season, and faced with this possibility of seeing him move elsewhere, Unai Emery’s side have set their sights on the Wolves stopper.
Martínez has a contract until 2027 and is followed by a few clubs in England. Sá, on the other hand, has one year less than his Aston Villa counterpart.
TMW add the 30-year-old Argentina is valued at €40m by the Villans while Wolves rate their goalkeeper at €20m.
If Aston Villa sell their star for the aforementioned price, they could invest half of that in taking Sá away from Wolves.
It remains to be seen whether this surprise claim will be backed up in England, Portugal or Argentina going forward, but it’s something we will be keeping an eye going forward as the transfer rumour mill properly kickstarts itself in the coming weeks.
