On October 11th, Mundo Deportivo stated Manchester United have shown ‘most interest’ in Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé.

Later that day, we covered claims made by Sport that the Red Devils are in ‘open’ talks with his agent.

The winger’s contract expires in 2022. Another report from Mundo Deportivo now claim the player and his agent, Moussa Sissoko, are not transmitting same message to the La Liga side.

Barca chiefs Joan Laporta and Rafael Yuste held talks with the 24-year-old and the latter has expressed his desire to continue at the Camp Nou. The agent, however, wants to wait until his client recovers from the injury he suffered in the summer.

The Spanish club had a fresh round of talks with the France international’s representatives this week, but the latest meeting didn’t result in a positive outcome.

Sissoko wants to wait until the former Borussia Dortmund man returns to the pitch. He feels that will be the right time to take a decision on Barca’s renewal offer, which includes a reduction in salary.

Ronald Koeman’s side consider there is no player similar to him in the squad, while they also believe he must commit his future to the club after struggling with multiple injuries over the past few seasons.

Barcelona believe Sissoko is offering Dembélé to other clubs, especially from the Premier League.

Among them are United, Chelsea and Liverpool, and it’s said trio are ‘waiting’ for Barca, most likely as to what decision they will take if the player refuses to renew his contract.

Apart from the Old Trafford side and other English clubs, Juventus are in the picture. Mundo state they have already ‘offered to hire him’ on a free transfer in 2022.

Due to Dembélé’s ‘extreme situation’, Barca plan to place him in the market in January, if he refuses to sign an extension before that.
