Leeds United are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton, according to a very interesting report from the Chilean media.
RedGol says that the striker has been drawing Whites’ interest for some time, and is now being watched by the club as he features in the Copa America.
Brereton is said to have been on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar for quite some time.
Now with the Copa America on, scouts from the Whites are keeping an eye on him during the tournament. The person who revealed this information to RedGol was someone who worked with Bielsa during his time in charge of Chile.
The striker’s contract with Blackburn runs until 2022, and according to the story, the Championship side want to renew his deal before other clubs come for him.
Ben Brereton is English, born in Stoke-on-Trent, and even played for England in the U19 and U20 levels. He finally took an invite from Chile this year, due to his heritage, and currently has one goal and one assist in three appearances in the Copa America so far.
Featuring for Blackburn last season, he scored seven goals and contributed five assists in 40 Championship games played.
