On Wednesday, we relayed an article from Calciomercato that Juventus were adamant Leonardo Bonucci wasn’t going anywhere, and now TuttoMercatoWeb are joining in with their information.
The Italian defender has been a target for Antonio Conte and Chelsea since the beginning of the summer transfer window, without getting any luck in his attempts to sign him.
According to the Italian website, Chelsea have made another approach, which was met with a firm ‘no’, and they say even a €50-60m bid wouldn’t be enough to make Juventus change their mind.
In fact, the Serie A champions are so attached to the centre-back that, even at 29, they are prepared to give him a new five-year contract, which would see him stay in Turin until 2021, or until he’s 34.
The numbers are rather impressive to, as the contract would see him earn somewhere around £83k/week post tax, which is a considerable investment for Juventus.
Despite (or because of?) the late signing of David Luiz on transfer deadline day, Chelsea have struggled to keep clean sheets this season, conceding 13 goals in their first eight games.
