As Napoli’s interest in Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri seems to grow, the Italian media brings today the latest updates on the chase for the 26-year-old.
A story from Calciomercato claims there’s been a ‘direct contact’ between the clubs in the last week.
According to the outlet, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia was ‘clear’ about the evaluation, and is demanding an amount of €20m up front plus €5m in bonuses for the transfer.
The report says Napoli can’t get to that price, so they scheduled a meeting with Palmieri’s agent so they can find a ‘new strategy’ to convince the Blues.
Calciomercato claims there’s also an issue with the player’s salary. He has a contract with Chelsea running until 2022 where he makes €3m, and that’s too much for the Serie A side, which is another obstacle to overcome.
Napoli’s pursuit for Palmieri has also been highlighted by RAI Sport today.
Journalist Ciro Venerato brought his own information, which goes along with what was said by Calciomercato.
“Napoli have been on Emerson Palmieri for some time, with interest only increasing with Spalletti. For him, Napoli has proposed more ways to Chelsea”, said the journalist (via Napoli Piu).
“The first is that of the loan, for which it would be necessary to extend the Italian-Brazilian contract by a year through a clause. However, Chelsea are not convinced by this solution because they value the full-back at €20m.”
