On Wednesday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Chelsea are concretely evaluating whether to send Andrey Santos on loan after completing Lesley Ugochukwu’s signing.
It was also stated Salernitana are in talks with the Blues over a potential loan deal for the 19-year-old.
Tutto Salernitana state the Chelsea midfielder would be ‘ideal’ for Paulo Sousa’s system at the Serie A side.
The ‘problem’ for Salernitana is Chelsea’s ‘change of intent’ with Santos in the last few hours. It’s said the Brazilian has ‘bewitched’ Mauricio Pochettino with ‘good performances’ during pre-season friendlies.
Santos has a deal until 2030. The report says he’s valued at €20m and Salernitana are aware they have ‘little chance of success’ to acquire the youngster’s services.
Despite this, Tutto Salernitana say the Italian club would consider making ‘one last attempt’ to sign the Chelsea player on an expensive loan with an option to buy. In addition to this, they would also include a buyback option for the Premier League side.
If there is any chance to acquire Santos’ services, it’s claimed Salernitana chairman Danilo Iervolino could be willing to invest big and ‘apparently unthinkable’ figures.
That hasn’t been the case so far.
