Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic is practically an AC Milan player, with only the ‘last bureaucratic details’ missing on the transfer.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Italian giants have secured the American in a deal worth €20m plus bonuses.

The newspaper reports that AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is ‘preparing to welcome’ Pulisic into his squad at Milanello and that could even happen as soon as Monday when they reunite for pre-season training.

Pulisic is yet to land in Italy, undergo medical tests or sign his contract at his new club but at this point there is no concern or hurry and the deal taking him to Milan is done.

Pulisic will be a part of his squad moving forwards and be a part of the team taking on Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona in the USA in the second half of July, perfect timing giving his status in his homeland.

The player’s desire to join Milan ‘prevailed’ over the economic difficulties in the negotiations between the two sides, despite Chelsea having ‘held out’ to get the price they wanted for him.

The ‘decisive acceleration’ in those talks came early in the afternoon yesterday, when the Rossoneri CEO Giorgio Furlani decided to up the ante and offer €20m, which will be paid over multiple years, plus another €1m in bonuses.

At that point, those in charge at Chelsea let go of their demand for €25m and accepted the deal put in front of them. The excellent relationship between the two clubs also helped smooth things over, as did Pulisic’s desire for the transfer. He will sign a four-year deal worth €4m in Milan.

That’s a ‘substantial cut’ from what he earns at Stamford Bridge, but he will enjoy the benefit of the Italian Growth Decree, which allows Milan to cut the taxes they pay and pass that on to the player.

All in all, everyone is happy with the deal they’ve worked out and Pulisic will be the latest player to depart Chelsea this summer as their extensive trimming down of the squad continues.
