Chelsea are planning on sending youngster Kendry Páez to France with Strasbourg next summer when he is ready to join the club on a permanent basis.
That’s according to journalist Danex Jácome of El Canal del Fútbol, relayed by Ecuavisa, who says the plan is for Chelsea to use their sister club to develop the youngster in Europe.
Páez is set to join Chelsea next year when he turns 18-years-old, having been snapped up by the Blues last year as part of their major spending under Todd Boehly and co.
The belief is that the Ecuadorian is set for a bright future and Chelsea have been working to integrate him into their set up early, regularly bringing him over to England to train with the senior side and familiarise himself with the club.
All indications have been that he would be a part of the Chelsea squad straight away but Jácome reports differently.
According to his information, the actual plan is for Chelsea to loan the youngster to Racing de Strasbourg, who are part of the same network of clubs run by those in charge at Stamford Bridge.
They already have several players from Stamford Bridge and the plan is to add Páez to that list when he is eligible to move to Europe.
It seems the idea being formulated is rather than throwing him straight into the Premier League, letting him spend a year in France and seeing how he gets on may be the smarter option.
The plan hasn’t been formally signed off as yet, and he’ll be staying with Independiente del Valle until he turns 18 anyway, but it’s now being considered ahead of him arriving next year.
