At this point, until Rafael Leao signs a new contract with Milan (or doesn’t), the Chelsea stories are going to keep appearing on a near daily basis.
That’s how strongly the Blues are interested in the Portuguese forward, with Todd Boehly clearly very keen to bring the forward to Stamford Bridge if he can.
Milan, down their end, are trying to ward off Chelsea by getting their star to renew his contract, which currently ends in 2024, and therefore put up a wall around him that even the Blues can’t overcome.
That has yet to happen, though, meaning the Premier League club are continuing to push, with the January transfer window their next opportunity to get a deal done.
Gazzetta dello Sport are the ones reiterating this, recalling that Chelsea are ‘more than interested’ in the 23-year-old, and could make another move following their attempts in the summer.
However, it’s made clear that ‘the feeling is that Milan can only be persuaded with an offer of around €120m, to be made well in advance’.
That means that if Chelsea do want to try and convince the Serie A side to sell their star, they are going to have start the process in the coming months rather than wait for January proper.
Either way, they explain there will be ‘a lot of talk’ about this between now and next summer.
