As Chelsea negotiate with Sporting for the transfer of Manuel Ugarte, the Blues apparently offered a player in that deal.
That’s according to Portuguese newspaper Record, who brings more details of the Blues’ €60m bid.
It’s said that besides the €5m in bonuses, Chelsea also put on the table the loan of Datro Fofana.
The outlet writes how the 20-year-old is seen as a ‘promise’ at Stamford Bridge and needs more playing time somewhere else.
Chelsea were even supposed to afford Fofana’s salaries during the one-year spell. However, that didn’t get the approval from Sporting.
According to Record, the Lions saw no reason to ‘bet’ on the signing, and ruled out that possibility.
Adding a player to their bid would maybe help Chelsea win the race for Ugarte but the truth is that their offer is already good enough, as €60m is the amount on his release clause.
Record already claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is telling the Blues to hurry with this signing, and the midfielder seems to have a preference for the London side over Paris Saint Germain.
