Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho ‘absolutely wants’ to sign Chelsea’s Antonio Rüdiger, but the Blues are reluctant to loan to a ‘direct competitor’.

That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who cover the defender’s situation and the transfer poker game that is revolving around him.

The German has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for several weeks, with Chelsea focusing on exits following a summer of significant investment and numerous incomings.

Rüdiger has thus been linked with moves all around Europe, and earlier today we covered a report from Calciomercato that stated AC Milan are in constant contact about a potential switch.

They are not the only suitors, with Tottenham also having been linked on several occasions after Mourinho made adding a centre back a priority before the end of the window.

Sky cover that situation today and state that the Spurs boss ‘absolutely wants’ Rüdiger in his team but there have been ‘internal critical voices’ at Stamford Bridge, who are opposed to helping and strengthening a rival and competitor.

Rüdiger, for his part, ‘can well imagine’ playing for Tottenham but they are not his only suitors. PSG and AC Milan are also keen and have been working towards getting him and are at various points in the negotiations.

Sky say the Ligue 1 champions have ‘negotiated in detail’ with Chelsea while Milan have ‘clearly positioned’ themselves and already negotiated with the Blues and the defender.

There is, however, ‘no solution’ at present, with it stated that there ‘should definitely’ be something happening on Monday, aka deadline day.
