Santos president Modesto Roma is reportedly in London to negotiate two of their starlets. Both Gabigol and Thiago Maia, who are currently with the Olympic squad, are said to be the reason why the official is in the English capital.
Santos are planning a friendly match with Benfica later this year, so the club president was going to Lisbon to make a formal invite to the Portuguese club. The stop in London is said to be “secret”, but is revealed by Goal and confirmed by Lance.
Goal says Modesto Roma has meetings with two clubs. First with Chelsea, who are interested in Thiago Maia. The Blues would be preparing an official offer for the midfielder, as the talks have been happening for a few weeks.
The man who’s intermediating the conversations is Giuliano Bertolucci, who works with Kia Joorabchian, and was involved in the deals of Oscar, Ramires, Willian, Alexandre Pato and David Luiz.
Chelsea are no longer interested in Gabigol, according to the claims, and will be concentrating on talks for Thiago Maia.
