Napoli have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Victor Osimhen, with them keen to resolve the situation around both strikers.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who provides the latest information from Italy on the matter and how it ties in with what’s being reported in England.
Claims today are that Napoli and Chelsea are negotiating a potential deal that would see the two sides essentially swapping strikers, with Osimhen even potentially moving to Stamford Bridge on loan initially.
Venerato says differently, with Calcio Napoli 24 reporting on his recent appearance on TGR Rai to discuss the situation around the strikers.
According to their information, Napoli are tired of waiting for suitable offers from PSG as the latest verbal proposal from the French side was €80m. No official offer has been made and Napoli are frustrated by that.
So, the Italian side are now pushing themselves by contacting the main European clubs to sell Osimhen, with Chelsea one of those on their radar.
There have been “only dialectical skirmishes” between the two sides at this point and no valuation put on Osimhen but “there is indirect confirmation of Napoli’s potential request for €70m plus Lukaku”. Chelsea have “not yet opened up to negotiations” on that front but could easily do so.
For now, the dialogue between Napoli and Chelsea will continue in the coming days but it’s a complicated deal that would take time to work on and there is the chance for other clubs to enter the picture.
Chelsea remain an option for Osimhen, though, and “Lukaku is stubborn and wants to work only with Antonio Conte”, meaning a deal between the two clubs makes plenty of sense.
