Chelsea’s lack of patience is why Hakim Ziyech has struggled at the club, with a stay at Stamford Bridge now “not an option”.
That’s according to Dries Boussatta and Anouar Amrani, who believe the Morocco star will need to leave Chelsea sooner rather than later.
Ziyech has been shining at the World Cup for his country, where he has been a key player in their run to the knockout stages of the competition.
It’s a far cry from his time at Chelsea, where he has struggled to impress following a move from Ajax in 2020.
He had been the star of the show for the Dutch giants, shining in both the Eredivisie and Champions League, but has never come close to that during his time in London.
Instead, he has struggled to establish himself as a key player under several managers, with neither Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel nor Graham Potter finding a role for him.
That’s led to consistent rumours that he will be moved on, with AC Milan keen in the summer transfer window and keen again ahead of the January transfer window.
Whether that happens remains to be seen but an exit would bring an end to Ziyech’s time at Chelsea, something Boussatta believes the club deserve blame for.
“Ziyech is a huge professional,” Twente Fans report him saying to NRC.
“He never cuts corners, always wants to play, does everything to be fit. You have to approach him very directly and honestly, he likes that.
“No excuses and prevarication. With a genius moment he can break the game open, but in England they don’t have the patience for that.
“Staying at Chelsea is not an option for him,” added Amrani, who believes a return to Ajax would be a bad idea and Ziyech should instead ‘have another go’ at a top European club.
