Manchester United’s offer of €30m plus Diogo Dalot is unlikely to be accepted for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who believes the Dutchman may end up spending the rest of the season in Italy.

Dumfries has been impressing with the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar, something which has seemingly ramped up the rumour mill around him once again.

He was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League before his move to the Italian side and those links have resurfaced this year, first when Chelsea were keen in the summer transfer window.

They remain in the mix but Manchester United have also been brought into it in recent weeks, with it claimed Erik ten Hag is targeting his compatriot to solve his issues at right back.

He is reportedly unimpressed with Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan Bissaka long-term and would like to bring in Dumfries to fill the role.

That will require a huge figure as Inter are not keen on selling a key player and want to make significant profits on such players to bolster their own budget.

That could be an issue for Manchester United given the money they spent in the summer, and it has been suggested they could instead present a lower priced deal that includes Dalot. Venerato, though, is unconvinced such a proposal will be accepted.

“As for Dumfries, Inzaghi considers him fundamental in the Scudetto comeback project this season,” Pianeta Azzurro report him saying to 1 Football Club.

“I don’t think United’s offer of 30 million plus Dalot can be accepted. I think the team will make evaluations in June, but if no important offers arrive, he will be confirmed for the rest of the season.”

Dumfries is not the only player in Milan that Manchester United are believed to be looking at, with Rafael Leao on the other side of the city also named as a target.

He’s been shining for AC Milan, establishing himself as one of the stars of the future with a series of impressive performances in Serie A and the Champions League.

He’s subsequently been linked with a big money move to the Premier League and Manchester United are one of those thought to be interested.

They have money to spend after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, while there are doubts about Jadon Sancho’s long-term future at Old Trafford also.

Leao could be the replacement should he depart in the near future, but Venerato insists they are only in the background for the Portuguese star at this point.

“Chelsea is interested in the player, PSG if they lose a tenor might think about it, United remains in the background,” he added.

“Rafa, however, is comfortable in Milan, the Rossoneri club hopes to find the solution, but will have to go beyond the salary cap set for the top players. The situation remains open.”
