Currently out of the Premier League’s top four, Chelsea may not be having a great season overall, but that can’t be said about every player in the squad.
Brazilian winger Willian has been having impressive performances, and coming out to be a pleasant surprise for Antonio Conte’s side in the past couple of months.
Currently with 13 goals and 10 assists, the player even lost his spot in the team at a certain stage of the season, but now has been proving to be an important asset for the Italian manager.
After a great display against Crystal Palace this weekend, the 29-year-old has spoken to ESPN Brasil, and talked about this improvement he’s been having during the season.
“Oh, I’m happy. Each season I have been able to reach better numbers, improving my performance, playing better and better,” Willian told ESPN Brasil.
“Happy for the goals I’ve been scoring. I think the most important thing is to win. We won, we have to continue like this, we can’t have any ups and downs until the end of the season. Because we want to be among the top four in the Premier League, so we have to keep winning the games.”
Regarding the 2-1 win over Palace, Willian was pretty happy for it, but made it clear that Chelsea should’ve done better so they wouldn’t risk the victory when conceding a late goal.
“Hard game. An important game where we had to win. I think the game could be easier if we could score the goals. We have created many opportunities. That’s the way the Premier League is, if we do not kill the game, the 2-0 score is very dangerous.”
“We conceded a goal there, they came up trying to equalise, and we could almost have suffered the draw. So games like that we have to kill the game. But I think the performance of the team was good, the team played very well and is to be congratulated for the victory.”
