A week ago we covered claims from Italy that Daniele Rugani swapping Juventus for Chelsea is a genuine possibility.
The defender has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, but he’s always seemed happy in Turin and his agent hasn’t been one to talk up the chance of an exit from Juventus.
Chelsea’s wish could become a reality due to the Italian champions wanting to raise money this summer for their predicted spending spree. There’s also the Maurizio Sarri connection, and it was the former Napoli manager who helped Rugani make a name for himself at Empoli.
It was claimed Sarri has since tried to sign Rugani on ‘several occasions’ so the Chelsea links make some sense with the manager widely expected to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer.
On Friday, TuttoMercatoWeb have a run over of Juventus transfer business and say Chelsea have ‘sprinted’ for Rugani. There’s no more added to it than that but the Blues are clearly still in the picture as far as the Italian media are concerned.
Chelsea are being linked with a string of defenders with Sarri connections and the idea is the manager would want someone to come in who already knows his system.
The same report says Chelsea are providing Juventus with competition to sign Aleksandar Golovin.
