Chelsea may have secured themselves a bargain with the signing of Dário Essugo from Sporting Club de Portugal.

That’s according to Augusto Inacio, commentator for CNN Portugal, speaking to Mais Futebol, who believes the deal is a good one for all parties.

Reports from Portugal today have indicated that Chelsea have wrapped up a deal for the Sporting youngster, who is currently on loan at Las Palmas.

It is believed they are paying around €22m for the midfielder, who will join them at the end of the season when his loan spell in Spain comes to an end.

The move for the 20-year-old has come out of nowhere and it part of a blitz by Chelsea this week, with their official travelling to Lisbon on Monday to secure a deal for Geovany Quenda and instead securing a double deal for both including Essugo.

The move appears to be a part of their new and ongoing efforts to scoop up talent from around the world that they can develop, either for their own first team or to be sold on at a profit down the line.

Essugo is on the lower end of what the Blues have spent in recent years, but Inacio believes he could end up leaving everyone surprised.

“Chelsea have now appeared and seems to have signed him for €22m,” he said.

“I think it is a good deal for Sporting and also a very good deal for the boy. I think that his abilities can really be realised at Chelsea, not least because Chelsea have a new vision for the future of not signing big stars but youngsters who really have a lot of quality.

“Honestly, I predict that Essugo could be a big surprise in the Premier League.”
