In search of some centre-back help in the summer, Chelsea are scouring Europe to find the right man.

A handful of players have already been linked with Thomas Tuchel’s side, with Ibrahima Konaté the latest from Germany following Bayern Munich’s acquisition of Dayot Upamecano, and now we have a name in Italy.

It’s Gianluca Mancini, currently contracted to AS Roma, who has been most recently sent to Goodison Park where Carlo Ancelotti reportedly has an eye on him.

Chelsea being throw into the mix seems to stem from Forza Roma in Italy, as the player’s ‘maturation process has reached its peak’, thus attracting ‘the attention of half of Europe’.

It’s stated the Blues, alongside Everton, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, ‘have been setting up antennas’, with it explained the Stamford Bridge side ‘will not be able to count on Thiago Silva for long’.

Interestingly enough, and by that we mean to the surprise of absolutely nobody, this comes amid other articles reporting AS Roma’s desire to extend Mancini’s contract, per Corriere dello Sport, as they try and ward off the clubs circulating.

This certainly wouldn’t be the first time Premier League clubs were used to get a player a new contract, especially when the man himself is in great form and starting nearly every game.
