Chelsea can take advantage of Leonard Prescott’s situation at Bayern Munich and secure a deal to bring him to the Premier League.

On September 23rd, the goalkeeper turned 17 years of age and has been on Chelsea’s radar.

He left Union Berlin to join Bayern Munich’s academy in 2023 and made his way into their U19 squad last summer. The stopper kept one clean sheet and conceded 29 goals from 16 appearances.

The youngster has also played four matches in the UEFA Youth Cup, conceding 10 goals. In the summer, the Bundesliga winners promoted him to their reserve team. He is yet to make his debut for them or their first team

Chelsea well positioned

Leonard Prescott is in his final year of contract and Sky Deutschland covers Chelsea’s interest and his Bayern Munich future.

Xabi Alonso’s side and Juventus have already looked at him earlier this year and continue to have him on their agenda.

His contract situation has caught the attention of these two clubs and other unnamed Bundesliga sides. Several clubs are monitoring developments or lack of it around Prescott.

The teenager’s contract renewal has stalled for months because Vincent Kompany’s side have made no progress. That’s because the stopper feels there’s no long-term future with their first team,

Manuel Neuer is the No.1 and Bayern Munich have identified Jonas Urbig as the 40-year-old’s successor. The Germany U17 international’s camp knows about this and believes there is no genuine shot for him to be their new No.1.

All signs point to Prescott’s exit

Therefore, the ‘risk is growing that the goalkeeper could leave as early as next summer’. In other words, Leonard Prescott will leave Bayern Munich as a free agent.

Several Bundesliga and European clubs have positioned themselves to sign him. Sky then immediately mentions Chelsea and Juventus. As the contract talks have stalled, the German’s suitors ‘sense an opportunity’ to snatch him.

The Blues now have Emiliano Martínez as their No.1. He arrived at Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa in August. Earlier this month, the Argentine said he changed clubs to get over the disappointment of losing the World Cup final to Spain.

Prescott won’t be able to fight for the No.1 spot immediately at Chelsea. In fact, he can’t play for them until he turns 18 years of age next September. This means even if the Blues were to sign him for free next summer, the stopper immediately has to go out on loan.
