As we all know by now, Chelsea are expected to place a €60m bid for Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
That was reported on Friday morning by Portuguese newspaper Record, with the outlet saying the Blues will match the proposal made by Paris Saint Germain.
It turns out that other local papers such as A Bola and O Jogo also have something interesting to say about this case, also reporting Chelsea’s upcoming offer.
Starting with A Bola, they claim that the Blues are the ‘best positioned English club’ in the race, despite interest from Aston Villa, Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Now there’s also something that makes Chelsea’s offer stand out over PSG’s, and that’s the extra €2m in bonuses, plus Sporting’s preference over a player who the Stamford Bridge side loan out. It’s said these factors please the Lions very much.
Meanwhile, as O Jogo reports the Blues’ bid, they point out that the Premier League is indeed Ugarte’s preference, but the lack of Champions League football next season plays against the London side.
The midfielder is expected to have a big say on the transfer, so that’s something to keep an eye on.
