Chelsea ‘ready to offer’ for player – ‘Hot’ summer transfer window expected

Chelsea are ‘ready to offer’ what it takes to sign defender Kim Min-jae from Italian champions Napoli this summer.

That’s according to Il Mattino, who say the Blues are very much in the race for the South Korean after his impressive performances in Naples.

They explain that there is still a question mark over the player’s future at the Serie A club this summer, with it expected he will leave after shining in Italy and Europe.

That’s because his contract includes a termination clause, which is only valid for European clubs, set at either €50m or €60m depending on the buyer.

The summer market is thus likely to be ‘hot’ for him and he is being followed by Chelsea, who seem likely to continue their spending spree despite their efforts and outlay in the last two windows.

Indeed, they are said to be ‘ready to offer’ for him, which we’ll assume means they are ready to offer the price needed to activate his termination clause.

Napoli are aware of this and already looking at replacements, with Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini currently at the top of their wish list.

His price is currently high for their liking, but they would be flush with cash from the sale of Kim, who will represent a massive profit after costing just €18m from Fenerbahçe a year ago.

At the moment there is nothing concrete, but Chelsea are presented as very much in the mix and seemingly ready to pay what it takes to secure their latest big signing.
