Despite everything looking very rosy in the early parts of transfer deadline day, there was a bit of a hiccup towards the end for Hakim Ziyech’s move away from Chelsea.
The Morocco international had travelled to Paris to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, and even underwent a medical to try and get ready for the move, but it was not to be.
Instead, a late crash in the system of the French football league caused a delay that was not anticipated, which scuppered the entire deal.
There hadn’t been much news about whether or not the deal had eventually gone through since, but Telefoot’s Saber Desfarges clarifies the Chelsea player’s situation on Wednesday morning.

Hakim Ziyech ne s’engagera pas au PSG.
Le prêt du Marocain n’est pas homologué par la Ligue.— Saber Desfarges (@SaberDesfa) February 1, 2023
Taking to Twitter, he explains that Ziyech ‘will not sign’ for Paris Saint-Germain, because the loan deal ‘was not approved’ by the French league.
Therefore, the forward will have to return to Chelsea, where he will need to bide his time until the end of the season, unless a club from Turkey (their window is open until the 8th of February) come knocking in the next week or so.
