Antonio Rüdiger has been a vital figure for Chelsea ever since Thomas Tuchel took charge at Stamford Bridge last January.
The centre-back was instrumental in helping the Blues win the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2021. His current deal runs down at the end of the season. These two factors have seen him linked to top European clubs.
Last month, ABC in Spain stated that Real Madrid are in the driving seat to take the 28-year-old on a free transfer next summer. It was also stated the La Liga winners are on top of the former AS Roma man’s wish list.
Apart from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with an interest in the Germany international.
Chelsea face Manchester City later this weekend and ahead of the lash between the two sides, this week’s edition of SportBild interviewed Thomas Tuchel’s man.
They point out Tuchel wants to fight to retain him and his contract situation is discussed every day in the media. When asked if a decision has been made and pressed if he wants to return to Germany and join Bayern, this is what Rüdiger had to say.
“In the case of transfer rumours, it is well known that the media always like to add a little more salt and pepper to make the headline a bit more explosive and bigger,” he said.
“Accordingly, you will not hear from me until the day of the final decision. We still have a lot to do at Chelsea this season, and my full focus at the moment is on the City game. My agent is currently taking care of everything else.”
