There’s big claims on Friday regarding Willian’s future at Chelsea, as UOL Esporte claim the Brazilian has turned down a very enticing offer to play football in China.
Currently with his national team at the Copa America, the forward made a six minute cameo towards the end of a 3-0 win over Bolivia before being left on the bench altogether four days later in a 0-0 draw with Venezuela.
In the meantime, Willian was the subject of a €20m bid from Shanghai Shenhua, who also offered him a healthy wage packet of around €12m/year for the next three seasons.
On top of all the money, the CSL club were also prepared to add extra benefits, such as ‘renting a flat paid for by the club, as well as two cars with drivers and a fee to be spent on plane tickets’.
However, the Chelsea player, who is contracted at Stamford Bridge until the end of next season, ‘was not interested’ and declined the chance to head out east.
Willian’s wish is to ‘continue in Europe’ and he is reportedly already in talks with the Premier League side over a renewal, intending to ‘continue there for at least two more seasons’.
All of the good news for Chelsea fans, then.
