Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could soon leave Chelsea to return to Barcelona, according to Sport.
The centre-forward visited the Camp Nou to watch El Clásico against Real Madrid at the weekend, and celebrated the win in the dressing room with his former teammates.
The outlet writes that his presence at Barcelona also worked for him to show his feelings for the club, and it’s now known he’d like to switch Chelsea for the Catalan side, even though there’s been no meetings with Joan Laporta yet.
Keen on the transfer, Aubameyang would even lower his wages to ‘facilitate’ his return to the Camp Nou. It’s pointed out he’s very much liked at Barça’s dressing room, as well as by Xavi and the club direction.
Sport mentions two reasons why the striker could leave Chelsea in the summer. First because he’s been of little use to the club since Graham Potter’s arrival in management, and then due to the Blues’ wish to lower their wage bill at the end of the season.
It’s said that could make Aubameyang ‘free’ by then.
It’s not clear if they mean Barcelona wouldn’t even have to pay for the transfer, but by judging by how the Catalan side have been working in the past few transfer windows, that’s definitely something they would work towards.
