Monaco’s wish to sign a new midfielder could take Tiemoué Bakayoko out of Chelsea directly and indirectly, according to reports today.

Newspaper Tuttosport says the French side have two names on their list. Besides the Blues’ player, there’s also Franck Kessie from Milan.

Why both possibilities would affect Chelsea? Because even if Monaco choose to go for Kessie, Milan would need a replacement, and Bakayoko is one of the names on their list.

The Rossoneri didn’t use their buying option after having the midfielder on loan last season, but according to Tuttosport, the people who disliked him are no longer at the club. That’s Leonardo and Gennaro Gattuso.

Tuttosport doesn’t write clearly about numbers, so it’s not known how much would Monaco or Milan be keen on spending on Bakayoko. For Kessie, the French side would spend €25m.

Despite claiming that Bakayoko’s future would depend on Chelsea, the outlet also writes that the player isn’t in Frank Lampard’s plans for the season.
