Chelsea have made an offer to sign Santos centre-forward Deivid Washington, according to claims from Brazil.
Globo Esporte reveals that the Blues are willing to spend €15m, plus €5m in add-ons, on the young forward.
Santos are said to be ‘studying’ the offer for now. Even though the club would like to make something close to his release clause, which stands at €30m, the report says it’s ‘possible’ that Chelsea’s bid will be accepted.
The outlet points out that the teenager has been drawing interest from Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, as well as ‘minor’ European clubs. AS Monaco are one of them.
Chelsea recently found a deal with Santos for the transfer of Angelo, who joined the Blues this summer in a similar €15m deal. So it’s fair to say that the two clubs already have a pretty open communication channel.
Deivid Washington is an 18-year-old who only has 16 appearances for the first team so far. Still, he’s been showing big potential since the youth ranks.
Santos have also been negotiating the sale of Marcos Leonardo, who’s been linked to the likes of AS Roma, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. He’s the one who holds the starting position, while the Chelsea target is a reserve.
So the Brazilian club will potentially sell just one of them, and the Blues better hurry, given that the talks for Marcos Leonardo with the Giallorossi are said to be advanced.
