On Monday, Jijantes reported Barcelona’s Marc Guiu has decided to join Chelsea after a meeting with his family.
Tuesday’s edition of Sport claims the 18-year-old’s entourage insist that a final decision hasn’t been made yet.
The striker has a ‘very tempting’ offer from Chelsea, while Barca have tabled a proposal to renew his contract. He has a year left on his current deal which includes a €6m clause.
At this moment in time, he has decided to leave the La Liga side but hasn’t informed the the La Liga side. He’s likely to clarify this during a summit with Barca soon.
It’s claimed Barca’s renewal offer hasn’t convinced his family or his agents. Guiu wanted to be part of the first team, while the Catalan club plan to integrate him in the future.
The financial aspect is another factor as Barca can’t even come close to Chelsea’s offer.
According to the newspaper, the youngster will inform Barca of his final decision in the ‘next few hours’. If Hansi Flick’s side don’t make one last attempt to retain him, he is most likely to leave the Camp Nou.
Chelsea haven’t yet received a ‘final and definitive’ green light from the player. Despite this, Sport say they are optimistic of getting the deal over the line this summer.
