Chelsea are in the mix to sign Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy in the summer, according to a report.
The left-back has less than 18 months left on his deal and is attracting interest from a few clubs, including the Blues.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who state Chelsea ‘want’ the 28-year-old in the next window.
Carlo Ancelotti has the Frenchman and Fran García as his two recognised left-backs. Los Blancos are chasing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and he would be a starter if he were to arrive in Madrid.
In that case, Mendy or García have to leave the La Liga side. Taking the current situation into account, it looks like García, but Real Madrid aren’t clear about it as of now.
Mendy is an undisputed starter under Ancelotti and the manager isn’t in favour of his exit. Despite his intentions, Mundo state Real Madrid won’t frown upon the former Lyon man’s sale.
The newspaper states Davies’ arrival would ‘surely mean’ Mendy’s departure, even though Ancelotti wants to retain him.
Premier League sides are ‘on the prowl’, as Chelsea and Manchester United want the fullback, along with Bayern Munich.
Mundo state ‘trouble is brewing’ at Real Madrid when it comes to deciding their left-backs for next season and Chelsea could take advantage of it to sign Mendy.
