On Wednesday morning, reports from Spain sounded very confident that Chelsea are about to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians.

Sport had a story claiming that the Blues will pay the €30m requested for the transfer, and are actually ‘one step away’ from getting the move done.

It turns out that as the Brazilian media now shares an update on the situation, they claim the opposite, with Gazeta Esportiva saying the negotiations actually slowed down.

It’s said that since having a bid rejected by Corinthians, Chelsea ‘cooled down’ the talks, and haven’t been in touch.

The Blues’ bid had been of €21m plus €4m in bonuses, and the Brazilian side reportedly demanded €30m.

Now even though Chelsea’s offer wasn’t enough to convince Corinthians, that doesn’t mean they’re getting outbid by other clubs.

Gazeta Esportiva claims that even though European sides had also been following the player, they ended up backing off after they saw how much the Blues put on the table.

That could also be a sign for Corinthians that they won’t get more than that, and it might be in their best interest to let Chelsea know they wouldn’t mind that bid being made again.
