Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries is ‘waiting for the green light’ to join Chelsea this month, but the Blues are yet to show a willingness to pay his asking price.
That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by FC Inter 1908, who say Chelsea are ‘not willing to go beyond €35m’ for the player.
They explain that the ‘siren call’ for Dumfries is once again sounding loudly, with the Dutchman a popular player in the Premier League.
Chelsea are particularly keen on him as they seek out a replacement for the injured Reece James and have made several attempts to secure a deal with Inter.
Dumfries is waiting for a deal to be struck between the two clubs and for the ‘green light’ to make the move but that is yet to happen.
That’s because the Nerazzurri are asking ‘too much’ for the defender at present, making a request for €55-60m, a figure which is too high for Chelsea who are ‘not willing’ to go beyond €35m at this moment in time.
That’s because they have already invested over €400m on signings since the summer, with the deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk for €70m, at the very least, the latest big expenditure this month.
That has seemingly made the Blues want to be careful with their funds and thus show a hesitancy to go as high as what Inter are demanding for Dumfries.
