Chelsea and Newcastle United have OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo on their agenda, according to today’s Sport.
The Frenchman returned to his country when the Ligue 1 side signed him from Barcelona in 2021. His last season’s form saw him linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer window but a deal didn’t take shape.
He has a contract lasting until 2027 but the report states the 23-year-old could be on the move after this season, when Chelsea and Newcastle are in the picture to sign him.
Both the Blues and Eddie Howe’s side are ‘very aware’ of the centre-back’s situation and Sport say that everything indicates ‘there will be business’ next summer.
The France international has received interest from elsewhere for a potential deal in January. If he were to not change clubs, the newspaper explains that he is most likely to make a switch to the Premier League next summer.
Nice refused to allow the player to leave in the summer and would consider sanctioning his sale in the upcoming windows, if there’s a convincing offer.
It’s said Todibo’s starting price is set at €50m and Sport add Nice are asking for more, which would certainly please Barca.
That’s because the La Liga side will receive 20% of the fee from his future sale.
Chelsea and Newcastle have Todibo on their radar, and it needs to be seen if they are ready to meet Nice’s demands to secure his services.
