Chelsea and Manchester United are both showing an interest in Kustosija U17 striker Dino Klapija, with European clubs lining up to secure his signature.
That’s according to Sportske Novosti, who name Chelsea and Manchester United among several sides to have shown an interest in the 16-year-old.
The newspaper reports that the Premier League duo are ‘in the hunt’ for the youngster, who is considered a ‘top quality talent’ and a jewel by his current club.
Sources at the club have confirmed that ‘numerous scouts’ have made their presence at upcoming matches known to the Croatian side, with something of a race developing for Klapija’s signature.
Reports in England have claimed that both Chelsea and Manchester United have entered the race, but they face competition as the player is also a target for Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan and RB Leipzig.
Klapija has caught the eye thanks to his performances in the younger age groups and the Croatian U17 national team, with the aforementioned European teams having expressed their desire to land the youngster and even offer more than €5m for him.
Whether Chelsea or Manchester United have done the same isn’t mentioned but they are trying to strengthen their ranks with players who can develop and push for a place in future and Klapija is considered a ‘top quality talent’.
They need to move quickly though as Leipzig are stealing a march on the competition, something sources in the club have confirmed to the newspaper.
