Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is on Borussia Dortmund’s list for this month as they look to add a number eight to their squad.
That’s according to journalist Patrick Berger, who reports that Chelsea are open to loaning out Chukwuemeka this month as he struggles for game time under Enzo Maresca.
Berger reports that the 21-year-old is on Dortmund’s shortlist of players as they look to add a midfielder, specifically a number eight, to Nuri Sahin’s squad.
Chelsea are open to loaning the youngster out and that’s all that Dortmund could do anyway as the midfielder’s release clause at Stamford Bridge, valued at €40-50m, is ‘way too high’ for the German side to contemplate.
Whether the Blues would expect a loan fee for their man, though, isn’t mentioned, or if they’d expect his wages to be paid in full either.
Chukwuemeka has only managed five appearances totalling 130 minutes this season, with Chelsea’s strength in midfield meaning his playing time has largely been limited to the Conference League when Maresca has regularly rotated his squad.
A move to Dortmund and the prospect of more minutes would surely appeal, but it seems they just have him on a list and are yet to really move given Berger’s thin report here.
