Unable to get game time under Thomas Tuchel, Denis Zakaria has found a bit more time on the pitch with Graham Potter in charge at Chelsea.
The Switzerland international was a last minute arrival last summer on loan from Juventus at a time when the Blues desperately needed a new defensive midfielder.
Despite a deal being struck with the Turin side, the player was rarely used by Chelsea, which led to question marks about his future.
The Stamford Bridge side have the chance to make the move permanent, and while his 10 appearances in all competitions suggest they will part ways in the summer, some in Italy state that isn’t so certain.
That’s because the Blues ‘have not yet decided whether’ to gamble on Zakaria, and ‘it will depend a lot on how the rest of the season develops’.
That means he needs to convince Graham Potter he can be a regular starter for the Premier League side, and the player ‘obviously hopes to be redeemed’ by Todd Boehly and co.
This is due to the fact he doesn’t really have a future in Italy, as Max Allegri ‘doesn’t consider him central to his technical project’.
Therefore, ‘it all depends on Chelsea’.
