As Chelsea prepare to make a new bid for the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, the Portuguese media already warns them that it won’t be enough to take the player.
That’s something today mainly said by Portuguese newspaper Record, who features a front page saying ‘no is no’, and is a message for the Blues’ plan, which is to keep the ‘high pressure’ on.
It’s claimed that Chelsea are preparing to offer €100m plus a few players, but Benfica simply have no intention of getting to a deal, with Enzo only leaving if his €120m release clause is triggered.
The Eagles’ plan is also reported by other newspapers. Correio da Manhã makes it clear that their intention is to get to the Champions League’s semifinals, and that means they need to keep a strong squad, with the Argentine star there.
Jornal de Notícias says that unless the Blues don’t trigger the release clause, ‘any other scenario will be unfeasible’.
So the message is very clear, with Record insisting that Benfica don’t even have interest in the players Chelsea could offer, mentioning it’d make no sense to receive Datro Fofana now that they signed Caspeer Tengstedt.
With all newspapers saying the Blues attempt is still to be made, that’s something confirmed by Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, who says there’s ‘no formal offer of any type’ for Enzo Fernandez so far.
