Chelsea have reignited their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
The Blues looked at the winger before they ended up taking other players last summer.
According to Sport1, the west London club are now ‘very interested’ in the player.
It’s claimed the German club’s bosses are already planning for the summer, just days after the winter market closed on Monday.
This is done because their deficit in this financial year could go up to €75m, and they need to cover the losses through player sales.
Sancho’s exit can help BVB raise funds and their leaders assume the wideman ‘will leave’ Signal Iduna Park in the summer.
Dortmund slapped a €120m asking price on the England international last summer, which was not met by any of the suitors.
Sport1 explain it will be difficult to get a similar figure at the end of this season and they would be happy to receive a lesser fee for him in the summer.
The Bundesliga side’s hope was Sancho and Erling Haaland shining together to help them mount a title challenge this season. That hasn’t happened as BVB are in sixth spot. Their financial situation will even be worse if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea are named as an interested party for Sancho and with Dortmund bosses opening the door for his sale, his exit should help the club cover the losses suffered financially.
