On Wednesday, Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger stated Chelsea are trying to sign Marcus Thuram in the winter market.

It was also stated the striker prefers to finish the season at Borussia Mönchengladbach, however, things around him could change quickly this month.

The France international’s deal expires at the end of this season and Chelsea are among several clubs showing interest in him.

According to Sky Deutschland, the Blues are ‘very interested’ in signing Thuram and are even considering making an offer in January. It’s said the frontman will ‘definitely leave’ the Bundesliga side, at the latest after this season.

Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to add more information on this case. He claims the west London club are still looking to sign another attacker in the current window despite taking João Félix on loan from Atlético Madrid on Wednesday.

Plettenberg claims Thuram is a ‘serious option’ for Graham Potter’s side because of his profile, and the club is ‘considering an official offer’. A January deal is unlikely to take shape since the player wants to stay at Gladbach beyond this window.
