Chelsea are showing “strong” interest in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, with his situation needing to be “carefully evaluated” this summer.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport director Pasquale Salvione, who believes there is a possibility Napoli will sanction a sale this summer.
Osimhen has been one of the star’s of Napoli’s success this season, bagging 28 goals in 35 games in all competitions as they’ve romped to the Serie A title and reached the Champions League quarter finals.
He’s subsequently been heavily linked with a major transfer this summer and Chelsea have recently been brought into the mix as they look to continue their major spending of the last two windows and add the star centre-forward their squad needs.
Indeed, a report today made it clear that they are ‘more than ready’ to spend what is required to bring him to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Salvione says that they are showing “strong” interest in making a deal happen, and Napoli may be ready to lose their star man.
“For Osimhen, however, it is a situation to be carefully evaluated,” he said.
“The Nigerian is approaching his fourth season with Napoli with the looming contract deadline. I don’t think the club will want to continue with an expiring player.
“The situation will evolve either with a sale, with Chelsea strong on the forward, or with a contract renewal.”
